Lead DevOps Engineer (Full Time)


Dayhoff Labs, a pioneering organization focused on harnessing the power of AI for chemistry and biochemistry, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead DevOps Engineer to join our growing team. We are on a mission to revolutionize the scientific world by creating cutting-edge tools and technologies to accelerate research and solve some of the most pressing challenges in synthetic biology, catalysis, green synthesis, enzyme design, and more.

As a Lead DevOps Engineer at Dayhoff Labs, you will play a critical role in scaling our cloud computing infrastructure and building high-performance computing systems to support and accelerate our scientific research efforts. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team of researchers, data scientists, and engineers to ensure seamless deployment, scaling, and management of our applications and services.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud computing infrastructure using best practices and industry-standard tools

  • Implement and manage high-performance computing solutions to support large-scale scientific simulations and data processing Collaborate with development teams to streamline the software development lifecycle, including continuous integration, continuous delivery, and automated testing

  • Monitor and optimize the performance, reliability, and security of our infrastructure and applications

  • Develop and maintain documentation and training materials for DevOps best practices, tools, and processes

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

  • At least 5 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or similar roles

  • Expertise in cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)

  • Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, or similar) and automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or similar)

  • Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC) concepts, tools, and best practices.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a research or scientific computing environment

  • Knowledge of AI, machine learning, or scientific simulation tools and frameworks

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
